Dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale ) is a perennial herb from the Asteraceae family, widespread in temperate zones throughout the world. Its root contains various bioactive compounds, including sesquiterpene lactones, triterpenes, and sterols. It is characterized by its yellow flowers, which after blooming turn into spherical inflorescences with bracts, popularly called "down".
